Abstract
Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry are two major driving forces to promote China's economic restructuring and upgrading in the new economic normal background. Coincidentally, there is obviously interactive effects between them. Specifically, Newtype urbanization is the carrier and support of emerging strategic industry, and emerging strategic industry is the new driving force for Newtype urbanization. Therefore, the study on interactive effects and transmission mechanism about Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry has important theoretical and practical significance of ensuring coordinated development between Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry.
Nowadays, Yangtze River economic belt is the China's national development strategy, which is across the eastern, central and western regions of China. Therefore, the study on interactive mechanism between Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in the Yangtze River economic belt has great reference value to ensuring the sustainable development of China's econo-my. To this end, we choose 110 cities from the Yangtze River economic belt from 2010 to 2013 as the object of study.
The general research framework in the article is as follows.
Firstly, in order to provide the theoretical basis and empirical support for the following text, we review the related research literature and foreign practical experience about Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry.
Secondly, we study the status of Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in Yangtze River economic belt by global principal component method. The results show that, the development trends of Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in Yangtze River economic belt are both good since 2010. At the same time, there are obvious differences within the difference region in the Yangtze River economic belt. For example, the status of Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in capital city is better than other cities in the same province, and the status of the eastern region is much better than the midwest region in the economic belt.
After that, we explore the relationship between Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in Yangtze River economic belt by coupling coordinative degree model. The study found that, there is the good coupling between Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in Yangtze River economic belt, and most of the cities are highly coupled. However, the coordina-tion of Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry is relatively poor. Overall, development of emerging strategic industry is obviously lagging behind Newtype urbanization in the economic belt, but the degree of coordination be-tween the two has an upward trend during 2010 to 2013.
Then, we study the transmission mechanism between Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in Yangtze River economic belt by panel simultaneous equations model. The empirical results show that, there is mutually positive interaction between Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in Yangtze River economic belt, though this interaction is not symmetrical. Specifically, Newtype urbanization significantly promotes the develop-ment of emerging strategic industry, but emerging strategic industry plays the relatively limited role in Newtype urbanization. Meanwhile, there are also sig-nificant differences about the interaction mechanism between the eastern, cen-tral and western regions in the economic belt. In addition, other factors, such as economic growth and industrial structure, have some influence on the devel-opment and interaction of Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic indus-try.
Finally, according to the conclusions of the above research, we give policy suggestions to promote coordinated development between Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry in Yangtze River economic belt, such as local governments shall develop supportive policies about Newtype urbanization and emerging strategic industry according to local conditions.
